She was one of eight children, with 6 older brothers and 1 younger brother. Unfortunately, all her brothers had passed before her.She grew up in the town of Soufriere where she worked as a Seamstress as well as helping her parents on their farm in Belle Plaine.

After a courtship of 5 or 6 years, she married her soul mate Lawrence Percy Nathaniel on 28th August 1957 in the Church of the Assumption in Soufriere. They remained united for over 50 years until his passing on 30th August 2009. Together they had five children. Unfortunately, two of her sons had predeceased her; Gilbert aged 18 months, and Martin Conrad in March 2018 in London.

Her three remaining children, Lucia, Marcellus and Marceline all reside in London, England.Veronic and Percy immigrated to London, England in the 1960s where they resided for approximately 28 years.

During this period, they were regular visitors to their hometown, Soufriere where they built their family home before finally retiring in 1989. They adopted their great great niece Berlinda Bertie at the age of 6 who has remained a constant companion and became a dedicated carer right to the end.

Mary Veronica Nathaniel passed away peacefully at her residence on the morning of 27th May 2024.
